Game Design
Nintendo has gone back to its roots and built upon the tried and true game play mechanics from Super Mario Bros. Nintendo went to town on Super Mario Bros 3. Every single game play element from both Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. 2 has been improved upon. Mario has many new powers this time around. The Super Leaf turns Mario into Raccoon Mario. Raccoon Mario can fly for a short period of time. The ability to fly greatly increases game play variety and level design. Other interesting items include the Frog Suit, which will turn Mario into Frog Mario. Frog Mario is a great swimmer. Furthermore, the Tanooki Suit will change Mario into Tanooki Mario. Tanooki Mario, like Raccoon Mario, has the ability to fly but Tanooki Mario can also turn into stone for a short period of time. When Tanooki Mario is stone, he cannot be harmed. There a many new enemies that Mario must deal with such as the Para-Goomba (a flying Goomba) and the Boos (ghosts that chase you). The new enemies in this game create new experiences for gamers. This game is massive. There are 90 levels, the most in any Mario adventure. This game is also the first Mario game to include an over world map. The over world map allows the game designers to create many different mini-games. Mario can play mini games to get extra items or extra lives. This game has been fantastically designed.

Graphics
Super Mario Bros. 3 is one of the best-looking games on the NES. All of the sprites and background elements look fantastic. The textures in the backgrounds are some of the best on the NES. Even will this game's fantastic graphics; the framerate almost never takes a hit.

Sound
The music and sound effects in this game are phenomenal. All of the best audio samples from Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. 2 are in this game. Of course there are new audio effects too and they sound really realistic. The music tracks are much better in this game then in any previous Mario adventure.

Control
This game's controls are almost perfect. It is easier to control Mario's jumping ability. Mario also has the ability to pick up Koopa shells and kick them while in the air. The only reason this game does not get an overall ten out of ten for control is that one might accidentally use and item from their reserve. While this is not a common problem, when it does happen, it can be a very serious error.

Satisfaction
This is one of the greatest games you can buy. It is really fun and really rewarding. It is not absurdly difficult like it predecessors, but Super Mario Bros. 3 is still an extremely difficult game.

Replay Value/Game Length
This is one of the biggest Mario games out there. With 90 levels, it is an extremely long game. It will take the best gamer a long long time to complete this game. A modified version of Mario Bros. is also included for multiplayer excellence.

Overall
Super Mario Bros. 3 is arguably one of the best games Nintendo has ever made. It is not hard to realize why this game has sold more then 15 million copies worldwide and holds the Guinness record for the highest selling video game.
