The upcoming Zelda game for the Nintendo GameCube is perhaps the most discussed and debated game that Nintendo has ever developed. When the Nintendo GameCube was first showcased at 2000 Spaceworld tradeshow, Nintendo created a very short technical demonstration of Link and Gannondorf in combat. The demo was so graphically impressive that many people thought that it was an FMV. It was not an FMV; it was running in real time.

Since then, everyone thought the next Zelda game was to be a "super-realistic" extension of the Nintendo 64 games. Everyone thought wrong.

At Spaceworld 2001, Nintendo displayed the first ever video of the GameCube Zelda game. Everyone was in shock. There was no "super-realistic" Link, enemies or levels. Instead the game contained a cartoon graphical style called cell shading.

Several members of the video game press were not impressed. They dismissed the game as "ugly" and "kidde." And the debate still rages on.

Little is known about this game. Here is a summary of what is known:

  • In this game, Link will have to save is little sister.
  • This game will link with the GameBoy Advance to activate the "tingle-ceiver".
  • Link's emotions will play an important role in this game.
  • Screenshots of this game seem to indicate that this game will take place on several islands.
